Robert
Roth
After three years of hard work and obsessive inspiration, former
Truly (Sub Pop, Capitol) frontman Robert Roth has finished mixing
his eagerly anticipated debut solo record and Pattern 25 can't wait
to get this epic and lush masterwork out this Spring. Devil in the
Woods magazine recently previewed the release and called it "a
truly timeless creation. It echoes nearly every great blast of sound
from the past 50 years, not in the order of its chords, but in its
ability to shake listeners from complacency." With this career-defining
and deeply personal solo outing, Roth has brought to bear the sum
total of his experience working with punk poet icon Jim Carroll,
Seattle indie favorites Built to Spill and -- of course -- his work
fronting the legendary international cult favorites Truly. Every
year a handful of releases succeed in achieving something of immense
ambition and even greater achievement that differentiates itself
in a substantial and lasting way from the fields of imitators. This
is one such release. You'll have to wait until May 11 to hear the
full release.

The
Worship Project
With straight-forward lyrical content and passionate expression,
there is no guessing at the purpose and message behind this album.
The Worship Project is a contemporary, modern-rock worship compilation
of original songs written and performed by Gary Humble and Seth
Whorton. Gary and Seth are both bible college graduates and worship
leaders in local churches. The Worship Project is simply a collaborative
effort to release fresh songs of worship into the church to inspire
and cultivate a deeper relationship with God.

Sushirobo
Inspired by the art-punk bands of the late '70s/early '80s as well as more modern electronic experimentation, Seattle's Sushirobo creates retro futuristic, jet-fueled music for analog robots. The band's sophomore full-length, The Light-Fingered Feeling of Sushirobo, takes listeners on a headphone joy ride shimmering with pixilated, beeping, sweeping and soaring stabs of sound the likes of which you've never heard come from a guitar (although that's exactly where they're coming from).

The
Blam
The Blam's eponymous debut album was released in the United States
on March 18, 2003 by Mootron Records and in the United Kingdom on
March 24, 2003 by More Protein Ltd. “... The Blam's debut was
too damn good. What better way to pop our NYC (New York Cherry) than
with this amazing collection of edgy pop. Jerry Adler writes edgy
& quirky avant pop with a great sense of melody.” “Mixing
Ramonesian stoopidity with early Eels twistedness and marrying Sonic
Youth's poppier instincts to REM-like observations.” -- Rock

American Analog Set
The American Analog Set was formed in Ft. Worth, sometime in 1995.
A bunch of dumb kids from Texas you say? Well maybe, but they made
some interesting sounds and came to the attention of the fine folks
at Emperor Jones/Trance Syndicated Records. The band relocated to
Austin in 1996 and set to work. Over the next four years or so the
AmAnSet released three albums on emperor Jones-1996's ' The Fun of
Watching Fireworks, ' 1997's ' From Our Living Room to Yours, ' and
1999's ' the Golden Band.' The band also embarked on several U.S.
tours with the likes of MOGWAI, THE LAPSE, and DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE,
in support of their albums. > Download

The
Appleseed Cast
Formed in 1997 in Los Angeles, The Appleseed Cast relocated to Lawrence,
KS in 1998 and began endlessly touring in the United States and
Europe for the next 5 years. Through the bands next five releases
on Deep Elm, they underwent several line-up changes. After releasing
the critically acclaimed Low Level Owl series, they began to capture
the eyes and ears of new fans, especially Tiger Style Records. Signing
to Tiger Style Records in late 2002, The Appleseed Cast’s
much anticipated sixth release, Two Conversations incorporates lush
melodies, honest lyrics and exhilarating dynamics. The forever-evolving
sound of “The Cast” once again transcends any preconceived
notions of what this band is capable of. They continue to explore
atmospheric textures as well as true rock elements, developing a
sound that can be called their own. It’s safe to say The Appleseed
Cast has now made the crowning jewel of their career: Two Conversations.

The Sick Lipstick
If the Go-Go's had let Darby Crash join their band, we think they
might have sounded a lot like The Sick Lipstick. Hailing from Toronto,
The Sick Lipstick are composed of half of what made up the short
lived but ever so popular Black Cat #13. Musically they are not
far off from their previous band, with fantastic female vocals,
keyboards and danceable rhythms, however they step up the energy
a notch with The Sick Lipstick. A combination of early Kill Rock
Stars stuff like Bikini Kill and Huggy Bear mixed with the sounds
of newer bands like The Subtonix, The Rapture and Erase Errata,
The Sick Lipstick released their debut full length in Tigerstyle
Records in June 2003.

John
Vanderslice
John Vanderslice is a musician/songwriter of tremendous melodic
fortitude and lyrical ingenuity. Time Travel is Lonely took more
than 300 hours to record. It was recorded by John Croslin (Spoon,
Guided By Voices), and features guest apperances from members of
Beulah, For Stars, and Oranger. Leaping off the boilerplate of guitar-based
indie pop, the new album plows a far more handcrafted furrow. The
songs are dense with harmony built on knob turning instrumental
inventiveness. The sound has analogues (pun intended) in both the
modern pop wizardry of the Elephant 6 collective and the venerable
vocal overlays of the Byrds and Fifth Dimension. The result is a
kind of classical experimentalism, both beautiful and beautifully
contemporary.
